Apple Speech shows live text. A downloaded Whisper model runs fully offline. Either way it pastes where you are.

Drag over anything you can see, an image, a video frame, a locked PDF, and its text appears right on it. Read on this Mac.

The Mac does the listening.

Dictation and screen reading run on this Mac. The network is used for one thing only: a rephrase you asked for.

On this Mac

History: Kept on your disk. Pins stay until you unpin them.
Dictation: Apple Speech on device, or a downloaded Whisper model.
Screen text: Read with on-device text recognition.
Rephrase: Apple Intelligence on macOS 26, no key needed.

Only when you ask

Rephrase: OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Hugging Face, with your own key.
Your keys: Stored in the macOS Keychain.
Speech models: Downloaded once, when you choose one.

Each model comes from one pinned revision on Hugging Face and is checked against its SHA-256 before Jerox uses it.
